SAS & CSM Technologies Enable GovernmentWhenever there is a life-threatening situation due to the outbreak of any disease, the government and the healthcare sector face severe challenges to restrict the boundary and eradicate the effects and disease. Being a global leader in analytics, which works with the government organizations in the world, SAS is responding to the COVID-19’s distinctive challenges using data for working and supporting the evidence-based policymaking and governance.

SAS India alongside CSM Technologies is associated with the Government of Odisha for successful implementation of the COVID-19 Dashboard project. Offering the latest stats on Odisha’s COVID-19 performance in different KPIs through dynamic data visualization dashboard using interactive charts, graphs, diagrams and other tools, SAS has drill-down the capabilities to churn out the status, location, demographics, spread and trend analysis which are present in the grass-root level in the state.

Adding to this enriched visualization technology, SAS India is supporting the advanced analytical and modelling tools usage for helping the Government of Odisha for planning the future. It includes calculating the probability of the infection spread among the population of the Odisha region. It has collaborated with the government authorities and created a medical infrastructure simulation by analysing the data on the number of patients, determining the risk of increase involved, number of available beds, and ventilator readiness at district levels. The data has helped in allowing the state to strategically accumulate funds and resources for the district levels as required, which includes the adding of beds, and assurance of medical facilities and personnel.

SAS and CSM’s collaborative efforts helped the government with the simulation analysis, providing insights on the impact of the different lockdown conditions including influx on the rate of infection, giving assessment on the best and worst-case scenarios. The Odisha Government showed digital leadership in actualizing the simulation output for making decision on the lockdown extension to accomplish a balanced public safety and economic activity.

The Secretary of Electronics and Information Technology Department, Manoj Kumar Mishra from the Odisha Government said, “Odisha is pushing the frontiers of digital transformation by investing in emerging technologies such as big data and advanced analytics. We looked at COVID-19 as an opportunity to leverage data to take proactive decisions and remain one step ahead in our war against the pandemic. And that marked the genesis of the Odisha COVID-19 dashboard which is accepted today as the single version of truth for citizens and administrators alike."

The VP and Managing Director of SAS India, Noshin Kagalwalla said, “The key to containing the COVID-19 pandemic is to harness and analyse related data and offer actionable insights. By offering SAS COVID-19 Outbreak Management Solution to the Government of Odisha, we reiterate our commitment to helping governments and organizations globally to help save lives and contain the pandemic by leveraging the power of analytics.”

The CEO & Founder of CSM Technologies, Priyadarshi Nanu Pany, said, “The success of data analytics largely depends on the quality of data captured across user journeys. We have effectively leveraged the SAS platform to integrate, clean and harmonize data, and produce a state of the art visualizations and modelling for prudent data interpretation.”

SAS is a dedicated COVID-19 Data Analytics Resources Hub, a dashboard for public monitoring for the spread of the epidemic, which is a data discovery environment created using SAS Viya and is available for free training.
