FREMONT, CA: Verizon, a communication technology company, launches a new connected-vehicle service which provides drivers with roadside assistance powered by the current digital communication technologies. Termed as Verizon Vehicle, the company brings the cutting edge vehicle information technology and service providing drivers with diagnostic technology, live assistance at the press of a button, and GPS-based assistance in times of need. It takes the roadside assistance to a higher level by connecting drivers with A.S.E Certified Mechanics who can look into the vehicle problems and fix them. Offered as a subscription, Verizon Vehicle is powered by the Verizon Wireless network. Subscribers of this service also get the assistance in the form of a tow truck driver or other which will dispatched as needed to assist the driver tracked through the built-in GPS. How it Works At the heart of this service is the on-board diagnostics (OBD) reader, a Bluetooth-enabled speaker, and a smartphone app. Subscribers can either use the smartphone app or set up the service for contact by phone, text, push notification, or email in order to report an issue with their vehicle. The speaker which is connected to the visor connects to the member care group, mechanics hotline and roadside assistance at the push of a button. It also comes with a second button for SOS emergency situations. Features of Verizon Vehicle include: GPS-directed pinpoint Roadside Assistance to address vehicle breakdown; Automatic Urgent Incident Alert System that comes to aid in the event of a suspected accident; One-button SOS Assistance; Auto Health System with Predictive Diagnostics; Mechanic’s Hotline. Members will also have access to: parking and metering tools; maintenance alerts; stolen vehicle location assistance; travel and repair savings. Verizon Vehicle connected-car service and driver assistance is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2015.
