On Sunday, telecom major, Bharti Airtel announced the appointment of Pradipt Kapoor as its Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Pradipt Kapoor, in this new job role, will be driving Airtel’s overall engineering strategy and be a key player in helping realize the company’s digital vision, said in a statement released by Bharti Airtel.

Pradipt Kapoor will be a member of the Airtel Management Board and he will be reporting to Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO, Bharti Airtel.

The announcement is completed at a time when India’s second largest mobile operator is focusing on developing a robust cyber security and cloud business for generating revenue from its enterprise vertical.

Pradipt Kapoor’s most recent assignment was at A.P. Moller – Maersk, where he was Global Head of Products and Solutions Engineering. Before this, he spent more than a decade at SITA Inc (U.K.) running Products Engineering. As an entrepreneur, he also had formative experience, said in the statement.

He takes over as CIO from Harmeen Mehta.
