vaibhav GawdeCR : With more than 420,000 customers and deployments in more than 145 countries, Oracle offers a comprehensive and fully integrated stack of cloud applications, platform services, and engineered systems. In India, Oracle works with customers across the private, public and government sectors, and has a 600+ strong partner network.

CR: How can organizations stay afloat in the big data environment and manage this copious amount of data? According to you, why is it that most companies can’t deal with the data explosion?

Vaibhav: Big data is touching every industry and every individual in some way. Early use cases for big data technologies focused primarily on IT cost savings and analytic solution patterns. Now, we’re seeing a wide variety of industry-specific, business-driven needs empowering a new generation of applications dependent on big data. For enterprises that can transform and manage it, data represents a huge opportunity as a source of competitive advantage.

It’s clear that big data has tremendous potential to help organizations dramatically transform their business to drive innovation, efficiency, and a more satisfying customer experience. Though enterprises have abundant data, what they lack is the insights piece. Unfortunately, most enterprises are plagued by disparate tools and data, which act as barriers to their analytics efforts. The key is to invest in integrated analytics platforms and execute big data projects better.

CR: How can an organization’s information systems keep up?

Vaibhav: Enterprises are looking to become more data driven to enable rapid decision making. However, most enterprises today don’t take a holistic view towards information management. An integrated Big Data strategy can help enterprises cope with the data deluge and innovate more, provided an enterprise has deployed the right systems for effective analytics.

CR: How is Oracle Exadata helping customers manage their data effectively? Explain what’s new.

Vaibhav: For any enterprise, managing a large datacenter has become a costly, complicated activity; when that datacenter also includes a number of database servers, and when database performance is critical, the costs and complications multiply! That’s where Oracle Exadata comes in.

Today, Oracle Exadata powers 4 out of the world’s 5 biggest banks, telecoms, and retailers. Exadata can be deployed on-premises, in Oracle Cloud, or using Oracle’s unique Cloud at Customer. Last year, we announced the new Oracle Exadata X7, which delivers extreme performance and reliability to run the largest, most business-critical database workloads.

CR: Explain the trends impacting the database industry in 2018. How is Oracle gearing up to help customers take advantage of these trends?

Vaibhav: Data is the new engine powering the digital economy. Per Gartner, about 10 percent of data generated by enterprises is created and processed currently outside a traditional centralized data center or cloud. By 2022, Gartner expects this to grow fivefold!

Oracle is helping businesses be fully prepared for the data-driven economy. We believe the future of IT will be autonomous cloud, bringing the concept of an ‘autonomous enterprise’ closer to reality. We started revolutionizing the way in which data is managed with Oracle’s self-driving Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud, which offers total automation based on machine learning and eliminates human labor, human error, and manual tuning.

We also recently expanded our autonomous capabilities further with the availability of Oracle Autonomous Analytics Cloud, Oracle Autonomous Integration Cloud, and Oracle Autonomous Visual Builder Cloud.

The Oracle Autonomous Analytics Cloud combines machine learning, adaptive intelligence, and service automation to create an analytics platform that breaks down barriers between people, places, data, and systems, fundamentally changing the way people analyze, understand, and act on information. In short, it empowers business users to quickly uncover more insights; reveals hidden patterns and performance drivers through predictive insights and automatic natural-language explanations powered by machine learning; and provides predictive analytics on IoT data applying domain specific machine learning algorithms on large volumes of sensor data and historical patterns of failure.
