NXP, Amazon Partnership is set to connect Cars to Cloud Computing Services

The Dutch chipmaker, NXP Semiconductors, on November 17, 2020, announced its strategic partnership with Amazon.com’s cloud computing unit for helping cars in communication with data centers.
NXP, being one of the biggest suppliers of computing chips to automakers and Amazon Web Services, is also the largest cloud computing service by revenue. NXP and Amazon said the partnership will fuel for making a new NXP chip designed for aggregating data from a car’s systems and sending it over the internet for working better with Amazon’s data centers.
NXP Semiconductors’s Executive Vice President, and General Manager of Automotive Processing at NXP Semiconductors, said, “We see the opportunity to help (automakers) make impactful improvements throughout vehicle life cycles with new vehicle data insights and the ability to make continuous improvements using machine learning and over-the-air updates.”
NXP and Amazon also said that they would give more details on the partnership in a webinar on the 19th of November.
