Reliance Jio has successfully trialed connected robotics over its indigenous 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) and 5G Standalone (SA) Core network.

“Jio 5G Robotics have implemented a wide canvas of services - From heavy lifting and logistics at manufacturing warehouses, to healthcare robots assisting medical staff - from remote ultrasound enablement to industrial automation robots,” Aayush Bhatnagar, SVP, Jio said in a Linkedin post Friday. “This underlines the true potential of 5G Standalone networks in realising real-life industrial use cases.”

According to the Jio executive, the trial will open “exciting opportunities” for value creation in Industry 4.0.

Bhatnagar, who has taken to the professional networking platform to announce Jio’s 5G developments in the past, has said the telco has undertaken use case trials such as Voice and Messaging over 5GNR or VoNR using homegrown 5G RAN and Core, an AI multimedia chatbot, and immersive high-definition virtual reality (HD VR) meeting.

The telco claims to have developed its own homegrown 5G stack which it plans to export abroad once testing its competence on a pan-India scale.

Its rival Bharti Airtel previously said that it was collaborating with global consulting and technology companies such as Accenture, Amazon Web Service (AWS), Cisco, Ericsson, Google Cloud, Nokia, Tata Consultancy (TCS) to demonstrate enterprise-grade use cases using high-speed, low-latency 5G networks.
