FREMONT, CA: Magellan, an innovator of GPS navigation devices, has been selected by Jaguar Land Rover, an automotive manufacturing business, as the navigation application for automotive marker’s model year 2016 vehicles featuring Jaguar Land Rover's InControl infotainment platform. This alliance integrates Magellan’s SmartGPS smartphone navigation application into an automotive OEM infotainment platform. Magellan’s SmartGPS available for iPhone and Android extends Magellan’s Eco cloud platform and is designed to integrate with connected car solutions requiring navigation with real time, personalized local content. This App connects to InControl platform via smartphone tether and provides display and touch control on the vehicle head unit display. Magellan’s SmartGPS App provides the vehicle progress and displays the location information in ‘squares’ which is displayed on the vehicle head unit display. If the user just taps the display, the information regarding the vehicle including address and mobile number is displayed on the screen. "Magellan was the perfect choice to bring smartphone integration with proven navigation to our customers. Its reputation as an industry pioneer and technology leader in automotive navigation complements Jaguar Land Rover's leading world-class vehicles." says Peter Virk, head of Connected Technologies and Apps at Jaguar Land Rover. Magellan provides Jaguar Land Rover InControl platform with various features like Turn-By-Turn Navigation with Landmark Guidance, Real Time IP Traffic, Yelp & Foursquare, Social Media Check-In and Last Mile Navigation. Yelp & Foursquare sends suggestions, reviews and tips for local businesses. It also provides information about the location of restaurants and shopping zones. Last Mile Navigation caters a smooth flow of journey for drivers with Magellan’s SmartGPS App.
