grindingBangalore: The premier trade body representing the Indian Electronic System Design and Manufacturing ESDM industry, Indian Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA), has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) of Pune for collaboration in order to establish Brownfield Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Pune. This tie-up is made under the Electronics Manufacturing Clusters Scheme of Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India.

MCCIA has been playing a significant role in accelerating the industrial and economic development of Pune region since its inception in 1934. The chamber also has continuously working towards making Pune a global business destination and has been catalyst for economic development of the region. India Electronics & Semiconductor Association is committed towards building global awareness for the Indian ESDM industry and has been representing the industry since 2005. Through vertical-based and segment-based programs, IESA creates an enabling ecosystem that catalyzes industry growth and leadership.

The proposed Brownfield EMC cluster in Pune is claimed to bring immense opportunities to the electronics industry, academia and other stakeholders. In addition, with reference to the scheme’s code of conducts, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be built in the form of a Public Limited Company under the Indian Companies Act 1956.

“Pune has successfully established itself as the engineering hub for automotive sector nationally as well as internationally and got enormous industrial potential to be the next manufacturing hub of India. MCCIA is thrilled to have IESA onboard for the Brownfield EMC setup in Pune and envisions the ESDM sector to achieve the same zenith of success. Brownfield setup will benefit the city and people in myriad ways and also pave the way by increasing employability,” says Anant Sardeshmukh, Director General, MCCIA.

“IESA is closely working with Government and Industry to make India a default destination for electronics design led manufacturing,” states Ashok Chandak, Chairman, IESA. “As one of the major step in realizing this vision, IESA and MCCIA have decided to collaborate towards setting up Pune’s electronic manufacturing cluster. Leveraging the initiatives of MIDC and entrepreneurial ecosystem, Pune can drive innovation in electronics sector and catalyze the economic growth of the region”.
