How IoT-enabled Drones Are Helping Construction, Insurance And Retail Industries? In no time, IoT-powered drones that can think and act like human being are set to take central stage finding a wide range of business use cases in the areas of construction, insurance, retail etc. enabling businesses to better serve their customers. According to a report by Gartner, the worldwide shipments of IoT-powered enterprise drones will total 526,000 units in 2020, an increase of 50 percent from 2019, and are expected to reach 1.3 million units by 2023. “Today, IoT enabled drones are taking over various tasks such as site surveying and earthworks management as they are faster and safer to carry out with a drone than on foot,” said Kay Sharpington, principal analyst at Gartner.

Construction Industry To Top The Table

The construction is witnessing massive adoption of drones that help in the site surveying to streamline the construction process. Utilizing drones to capture data can help businesses save 70 to 90 percent on the surveying costs and speed up the gathering of actionable data. These drones also help to track and manage the construction projects more efficiently in relatively less time. “The construction sector is an early adopter of drones, which causes construction monitoring to be the largest use case by shipments worldwide across the forecast,” said Kay Sharpington. Construction industry will witness deployment of over 509.5 thousand units by 2023, says Gartner.

Enabling Better Damage Assess In The Insurance Industry

By the end of 2023, the insurance industry will see deployment of over 135.8 drones for insurance investigation. “Drones are used to carry out inspections on buildings after a claim has been made, to assess the extent and cause of the damage. They can also be used to evaluate the type and condition of the building when providing an insurance quote,” said Kay Sharpington. IoT-powered drones provide a comprehensive photographic record of the building condition and help to reduce the cost of scaffolding, ladders and enable better employee productivity.

For Quick Service Delivery In the Retail Industry

Drone shipments in the retail industry will total 25,000 in 2020 and will become 122,000 units by 2023. Drones in the retail industry will help retailers provide customers with faster and better service and allow them to access customers in remote areas in an easy manner.
