Cyber Risk & Resilience Summit - A discussion on how to better secure the cyber space.

Sapphire Connect recently concluded the virtual edition of the Cyber Risk & Resilience Summit on August 20th 2020. The summit saw some of the industry stalwarts deliberating on how to better secure the cyber space. The theme of the event was – Be Prepared! Be Resilient!

From opening with the evolution of cyber security in India, to discussions on Zero Trust, Cyber Insurance, Privacy, etc. the event in its launch edition did touch upon some very critical topics of cyber security. Along with the existing challenges, the COVID19 pandemic did not make things easier for our cyber security leaders. A lot changed with the pandemic and businesses and enterprises found themselves in unchartered territory as they forged their way ahead. Cyber Security leaders had to ensure they were not just securing their office network, but also had to adapt and deploy mechanisms to ensure the home network was secure too.

Sharing his views on the evolution of cyber security in India Dr. Balsing Rajput SP, Maharashtra Cyber, highlighted that cyber security in India continues to be reactive in nature. He was quick to point out that as cyber security gains prominence, it now finds itself as part of the board room agenda. A small but significant shift from reactive to proactive is gradually coming to be.  From a legislative standpoint, the Government has initiated and is diligently working on introducing a legislation specific to cyber security, which is expected to come in to effect in the near future.

Through the course of the day, the summit witnessed a wide array of industry leaders such as Mr. Amit Saxena, Global Deputy Chief Technology Officer at SBI, Mr. Mathan Babu Kasilingam Chief Information Security Officer at NPCI, Mr. Harshad Mengle Chief Information Security Officer at Future Group share their insights and experience. The discussion varied from – The need for Securing Applications from Within to Assessing the importance of cyber security readiness, to The Need for Strengthening the Incident Response Plan. The discussions were both interesting and insightful leading to a number of key takeaways for the delegates.

With more than 400 attendees comprising of CIOs, CISOs, IT Head, VPs & Directors, the summit received a positive response from the delegates.

As the event concluded, it was evident that when it comes to cyber security, enterprises must be prepared & must be resilient! Kaustubh Aradhye, Sales Director-South Asia at Cyber Observer shared how they can help enterprises with cyber security, “We believe that to improve and raise your cyber-security posture and maturity you don’t need to invest endlessly in new security tools. The truth is that 80% of data breaches can be prevented with basic actions, such as vulnerability assessments, patching, and proper security tools configurations. Continuous visibility is a game-changer for cyber-security posture management and helps close and manage coverage gaps, malfunctioning tools, identify abnormal deviations and more.  Our mission at Cyber Observer is to provide unified real-time and continuous information, monitoring, and analysis of the enterprise cyber-security hygiene and posture.”

Mr. Rishi Kapoor, Associate Partner & Business Head at Sapphire Connect, voiced his entire team’s excitement at the overwhelming response they received at this virtual event, “This being the launch event, the team did put in extra effort ensuring we had the best line up of speakers, the right target audience and the right partners who believed in our vision. At the end it all paid off, and the entire team and I were excited to see the huge response. Hopefully as the pandemic comes to a complete end, we want to make this an impactful on-ground event.” “This is just the beginning, as we intend to launch multiple events across various genres” he added.
