CIOReviewIndia TeamIn today’s world, as businesses are looking for the most innovative ways to improve and accomplish their objectives, cloud computing has been a major force behind the on-going change that is being witnessed in the overall business processes; from the way of storing their data to improving agility to robust go to the market strategies. Adopting cloud does not just bring add-on benefit for the businesses, but , has also become a current necessity for them to stay relevant in today’s disruptive market situation. According to report by Forrester, the public cloud market, i.e. cloud apps (SaaS), cloud development and data platforms (PaaS), and cloud infrastructure (IaaS) is expected to reach $411 billion by 2022.

Some of the Cloud-computing Trends disrupting current market:

Hybrid Cloud – The use of public and private cloud within one framework is gaining momentum with the changing time. As companies are realizing the benefit of managing their private cloud for sensitive applications and data, and use of public cloud for other computing tasks is far more efficient than just using one of out of the two. Even, security can be effectively be maintained as companies do not need to house all their sensitive data in a public server.

Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) – These cloud application development services are likely to see further growth due to its high implementation across various industrial verticals. Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) is most employed by users due to its flexibility; it allows users to pay based on the usage of the services.  There are range of services offered from renting, storage, networks, operating systems, to servers and virtual machines.

Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) – It provides an inbuilt infrastructure of servers, networks, databases and storage that eliminates the need to constantly update them or manage them. There are numerous advantages of using PaaS, to name a few, from rapid time-to-market, minimal development, cost-effective development to pre-built sophisticated tools and future proofing.

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) – Providing an alternative to the traditional on-premise software installations, SaaS has been become common method of delivering many business applications. It relatively has a distinct advantage over the traditional models. Some of being, low up-front cost, quick setup and deployment, easy upgrades and accessibility/scalability.

However, with all the undue advantage of cloud, it is very crucial to maintain a robust security in today’s highly data-driven world. Even, many of the cyber security professionals agree that, data security and loss/leakage risks are the top factors that are hindering cloud adoption. Hence, it is an utmost need of the hour to overcome these challenges with highly secured approach.
