BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSFT), a global unified communication as a service (UCaaS) leader, announced that leading Japanese telecommunications service provider NIFTY has selected BroadCloud® and UC-One® to support its new ShaMo! service for small and medium sized businesses in Japan.

BroadCloud is a managed service that allows service providers to deliver BroadSoft's comprehensive UC-One unified communications services to new and existing customers. BroadCloud eliminates the need to make substantial capital investments and enables service providers like NIFTY to speed time-to-market and accelerate time to new service revenue.

NIFTY is a recognized innovator in the Japanese Internet and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) market. Its ShaMo! service will provide a variety of unified communication services over BroadCloud, and will target employees of highly mobile and entrepreneurial small businesses. Many of these firms rely on "virtual" offices and have an "always on," highly mobile workforce. The ShaMo! offering provides a "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) solution for smartphone-based business, while also providing fully functional office PBX capabilities. By offering a cloud-based UC service, customers are able to rely on world-class communications services to grow their businesses, without the complexity and expense of on-premise phone systems or hardware.

"We are delighted to be working with BroadSoft to launch our new ShaMo! service. Customers that operate in small, mobile and fast moving businesses rely on their communication provider as an absolutely essential part of their business. Providing the ShaMo! service on BroadCloud has given us proven reliability, and the ability to develop and deploy the service extremely quickly to meet the needs of entrepreneurial small businesses across Japan," said Takaya Ueno, Chief Information Officer, and General Manager Cloud Business Division, NIFTY.

"Addressing the unified communications needs of businesses with a mobile-first approach is an exciting challenge and ideally suited to the capabilities of BroadCloud," said Jonathan Reid, the managing director responsible for the Japan market at BroadSoft. "As our first BroadCloud customer deployment in Japan, we are looking forward to working closely with the NIFTY team as the ShaMo! service continues to grow rapidly."

In November 2015, BroadSoft expanded into the Japanese market with the acquisition of Tokyo-based PBXL KK, now named BroadSoft Japan KK, a provider of innovative cloud-based communication solutions.
