India’s digital transformation will drive the manufacturing sector on the back of AI, cloud computing, IoT, blockchains, and robotics for creating $1 trillion economic value from the digital economy by 2025 up from $200 billion, which is the present record, said by the CEO of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant, when he was evaluating the role of data for catching India’s growth targets.

During the India Digital Summit 2021, he said, “In order to take its rightful place in the global supply chains, India is leveraging technologies and applying them across the manufacturing value chains to gain competitiveness. Data will be critical to meet these goals.”

The CEO of NITI Aayog while he was addressing in the virtual media, stressed that the post-Covid-19 pandemic era will only witness those countries growing the vast digital ecosystem which use digital ecosystem.

He said, “Post- pandemic global supply chains will be restructured, and you can be only competitive if you can use the power of technology.”

As per Kant, the last few years has pushed the Centre’s Digital India in narrowing down the digital divide of the country.

Kant asserted, “The growth in the number of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a clear indication that more and more people are embarking on the new digital way of life.”

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has democratized access to financial services, where Kant said, “India’s poor people’s access to the financial product is increasing due to the country’s fintech revolution.”

Moreover, the requirement for strengthening the digital infrastructure Kant said, “It has emerged as more significant infrastructure as compared to traditional infrastructure necessities such as power and roads.”

And concluded saying, “Digital is the future, and if India wanted to improve the social or health sectors, going digital was critical.”
