Google Cloud Partners with AT&T For 5G-powered Edge Computing

Google Cloud and AT&T have recently announced a partnership to help enterprises use Google Cloud’s technologies and capabilities using AT&T network connectivity including 5G. Now the customers of Google's cloud services will be able to access AT&T's 5G network to run their applications on computer servers across the US much faster.

Our co-innovation with AT&T aims to bring a multitude of 5G and Edge Computing solutions to address a diversity of use cases, driving real business value in industries like retail, manufacturing, gaming and more. We are deeply committed to helping drive positive business outcomes for enterprises by working with AT&T on 5G,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud.

Addressing Real-world Business Problems    

With this partnership, AT&T and Google Cloud intend to deliver a portfolio of 5G edge computing solutions that bring together Google Cloud’s leading technologies, AT&T’s network and edge computing to help businesses address real-world business challenges. These edge computing solutions that span across various industries including transportation,manufacturing, retail, local enterprise 5G and gaming will be powered by AT&T’s network and will leverage Google Cloud’s capabilities in the areas of Kubernetes, AI, and ML, data analytics, and other leading technologies. Businesses can move infrastructure from centralized locations to these edges and run applications closer to end users by bringing Google Cloud compute capabilities to the edge, and can minimize latency, optimize operations to provide better security and user experiences for the end-user.
