But businesses across industries realize that drones have multiple commercial applications, some of which go beyond basic surveillance, photography, or videos, and they are already using them to transform daily work in some industries. The recent announcement of India's policy on the use of Remotely Operated Aircraft Systems (ROAS) by the Directorate General of Central Aviation, has brought the spotlight on drone photography and its use in different sectors. The realty scene, too, is abuzz with talk on how this technology can be incorporated more constructively to compound business benefits. The new policy that will be effective from December 1 onwards, clears ambiguity regarding the definition of a drone and the flying restrictions related to different types of remotely piloted aircraft. The fact that technology has seeped into the realty marketing is amply reflected in different tools used by developers these days. Drone imaging is currently trending in realtors' offices as well as on realty platforms across the board. They've already made the leap to the consumer market, and now they're being put to work in commercial and civil government applications from firefighting to farming. A wildfire has broken out and is spreading rapidly. Local firefighters want to conduct a water drop over the hottest parts of the blaze, but they need to give the helicopter pilot the coordinates. A drone equipped with thermal camera can fly over the fire struck dense forest and identify the hotspots. Similarly, an oil and gas company is about to conduct its required monthly pipeline inspection. The company would usually hire a USD 2,500-an-hour helicopter crew for the job. But now they're using a drone. One very interesting application has been discovered by the solar industry. The solar startups have a way of planning their solar fields and data collected by drones have proved to be the holy grail for the industry's growth. CIO Review's cover feature for January has featured SenseHawk- a sensing and analytics technologies, that touches upon the most exceptional parameter s of solar planning. It will require a read to understand what this company is capable of. Similarly, we have thrown light on several such India based drone technology solution provider. We hope these companies take you by surprise with their extraordinary solutions.Do let us what you think. Emmanuel Christi DasAsst. Managing Editoremmanuel@cioreviewindia.com. PublisherEditorAsst.
