We have travelled from reading about Big data in the monthly tech magazines as special features to actually implementing the phenomenon in our lives. However, what is and will always shift shape in this domain, is the way we comprehend, extract and grow using this data. If that didn't sink in, let me tell you, an electronics company, spent most of its marketing budget on conventional marketing channels including print, television, and display advertising. However, while analyzing the consumer decision journey it was observed that most of the customers browsed through retailers' websites and less than 9 percent visited the brand's platform. The moment the company shifted away from general advertising to distributor website content, its e-commerce sales sharply jumped by 21 percent. However, Data, the biggest ally of an organization, also becomes its biggest adversary if left inadequately managed. So, are enterprises sitting on a data mismanagement time bomb? It is a rhetorical question. A set of data unchecked can either cause loss of opportunities or a vulnerability that can shake the very foundation of a long existed business. But, all of the hype that has dominated discussions for the past few years is settling down into normalcy. Data analytics is not the new kid in class, and we aren't slack-jawed seeing what the latest tools are capable of. It's time for the hype to give way to success in the real-world contours. We're already seeing excellent tools that collect and analyze data. What needs to mature and improve is the integration aspect -- systems that easily and seamlessly connect and share data for more powerful analytical capabilities. Not to underestimate the IT players working day and night to simplify our intake and understanding of data, data management and analytics solutions are mysteriously evolving in months basis. Data analytics solutions have solved strangest of the strangest problems. From flashing `Red Alert' on Human Trafficking in India to helping scientists and policy-makers work out solutions to address the climate change problem- the possibilities are infinite. Likewise, in this edition of CIOReview India, we have given the stage to the top 20 most promising Big data solution providers who show a promising future, where data is an ally, and just that.
