Sureline: Deploying Cloud Solutions to Accomplish Mobility, Migration and DR

By

With users exploring various uses of the cloud in order to squeeze more from IT budgets, while ensuring company’s data preservation; enterprises seem to have realized the benefits of consolidating datacenters and moving applications and workloads to the cloud. DR is another use case of cloud phenomenon that appears to have quiet some traction among users. When properly configured and managed, the cloud can provide a cost-effective approach to scale out applications. Additionally, cloud is an attractive cost effective solution for point-in-time restoration and Disaster Recovery of critical data, multi-tier applications and systems due to its ability to deliver faster recovery times and multi-site availability at a fraction of the cost of conventional disaster recovery.. Accomplishing flexible, easy to deploy solutions for Application Mobility along with DR and Migration to the Cloud is Sureline Systems, with corporate headquarters in Santa Clara, California, a business office in Japan, and development & QA in India.

Established in 2010, the company serves a worldwide customer base with the aim to simplify mission-critical, enterprise class disaster recovery; making it affordable and simple for enterprises of all sizes. Sureline provides the highest quality recovery points, replicates them remotely for safety, delivers zero data loss failover/failback, the ability to test DR plans easily and frequently, and without locking the customer to a specific Cloud. “Migration from one platform to another is not as straightforward as one would think. Having a proper technology that can do this, with management of the entire operation, is critical to one’s success.” says Gautam Thockchom, Vice President at Sureline Systems.

SUREedge- The ultimate answer for Cloud Migration, Hyperconverged Platform on-boarding and BCDR Solutions
Furnishing migration and DR solutions through its completely flexible solution SUREedge; Sureline makes migrations easy and massively reduces the replication and overall migration time required. The capability of SUREedge to capture application and system images from any physical system or any flavor of hypervisor and recover it on any other hypervisor makes it a premier solution for Migration and DR to the Cloud where the source and target are typically dissimilar.

With architectural structure containing both management control (user interface, planning, scheduling, tracking, testing in sandbox, final cut-over) and storage manager (global DeDupe, compression, encryption, replication) components; the base architecture for the Sureline solution is made up of two virtual machines. The install starts with a single Windows VM; customers log into the machine, download SUREedge®, and execute the installer which further creates a virtual machine infrastructure for the storage manager.

The migration product of the company, SUREedge-Migrator supports physical and virtual servers locally, in remote datacenters, and in private, public, or hybrid clouds. The SUREedge software appliance serves as the middleman in a large migration process and along with managing the Migration process; it also reduces the amount of data being transferred. Moreover, the ability of SUREedge to deduplicate, compress, encrypt, and then intelligently replicate the virtual machine data to the destination site results in tremendous amount of data reduction; thus making migrations of hundreds of physical and virtual workloads and machines possible in condensed time windows.

Apart from systems and workload migrations, Sureline also caters enterprise disaster recovery solution, availing which customers can use any remote site as a DR site and can use Microsoft, Amazon, CenturyLink, Google or any other cloud platform along with a wide range of applications, including Exchange, SQL, Windows and Linux File Server, Oracle, or any Windows and Linux based in-house applications are supported by Sureline. Possessing most of the features and flexibility similar to SUREedge -Migrator, Sureline’s disaster recovery solution allows enterprises to enable a DR solution locally, remotely or in the cloud. “SUREedge-DR can directly DeDupe data to S3, Azure, Google, CenrutyLink storage, with nothing powered on the cloud. Additionally, Enterprise could use SUREedge-DR at multiple sites and manage all of them from a single window.” affirms Gautam Thockchom, VP of Product Management at Sureline.

Sureline claims receiving a lot of interest in on-premises to cloud DR/migration, as well as on-boarding to hyperconverged infrastructure, including Nutanix Acropolis, VMware vSphere, KVM and Microsoft Hyper-V. With a large number of companies being its end-users, while others being MSPs using SUREedge as part of their DR end-to-end managed solution that is sold to their end-users; Sureline feels dignified to have proven itself at major corporations in a short span of time.
