EI LABS: Augmenting IoT Based Applications to Ensure Human Safety

By

From refrigerators to parking spaces and houses, IoT is bringing more ‘Things’ into the digital fold every day and is thus expected to become all pervasive in the near future. With a few taps on a touchscreen panel or a couple of voice commands at home or a smartphone, individuals can set temperatures, turn off lights, and tweak security settings at home. But the biggest barrier to such a pervasive technology is the battery backup since recharging on a daily basis hampers deployment into standalone objects like bags, doors and even walls. Aiming to overcome this obstacle with its extremely low power, extremely efficient and small batteries that deliver a high amount of energy, is the tEther tag technology of Bangalore based EI LABS.

Conceptualized by a team possessing global experience in the high-tech IT industry; EI LABS was created with a vision to touch lives through embedded, intelligent technology that can improve safety, productivity and quality in life. The firm believes that safety and security are major social concerns in our country and has therefore developed a tEther enabled women’s safety watch concept, which has been licensed and taken into production by a leading accessory maker and is expected to be in the market shortly. “We are soon launching a home alone elder safety solution- Sakha that would also be the first of company’s wearable solutions in the safety space.” claims Krishnamurthy Vaidyanathan, CEO, EI LABS.

Integrating Wearables with Connected Cars
With Collar GPS trackers that meet automotive OEM quality standards; EI LABS has been pioneering vehicle tracking solutions for over a decade in India. The organization takes pride in being a part of the telematics technology of India’s first connected car, the E2O from Mahindra. Additionally, the firm provides fleet safety solutions by integrating driver and passenger validation and automatic detection of accidents through UDUKU, a personal vehicle Tracker mobile-app. The app works seamlessly with TrackITplus, the web aggregation platform to send alerts about exceptions, based on the data collected from connected car devices.

EI LABS works towards making its Collar GPS trackers completely IoT enabled and improve on the safety aspects for a traveler. The firm is integrating tEther technology in to its Collar GPS trackers, to interact with wearables like safety watches, Smart School Badges leveraging UDUKU to deliver alerts for unsafe instances such as a child boarding the wrong bus, or a woman perceiving a threat while traveling in a taxi. As an example, the organization is enabling safe transportation of children through its TrackITplus Smart Campus School solution. “A GPS enabled child watch is also in our road map and would soon hit the markets.” claims Krishnamurthy. With Driver Validation and Safety Alerts at the core; the firm will be coming out with products that can analyze driver behavior and grade them for safety.

The organization also pledges to continue supporting the ‘Make in India’ movement with products being designed and manufactured in India; and targeted for the global audiences.
