DesignTechSystems: Technology for Designing the Future

By

In today’s fast paced world coupled with technological advancements, it has become difficult for manufacturing companies to stay ahead of competition as time-to-market for error-free superior products keeps diminishing. The industry requires structured and efficient processes to achieve high quality products at very low cost. CAD / CAM / CAE applications solutions have become vital for product development and product manufacturing life cycle. Their superior and diverse capabilities allow manufacturers with better visualization and data handling tools that are necessary to create proficient products. However, these UNIX based applications were expensive and could only be afforded by established companies. Small and medium scale companies were still struggling with old age techniques that held them back.

Identifying this burning need of the manufacturing industry, Vikas Khanvelkar along with Sachin Chougule created DesignTech Systems. Incepted in 1998, the company grabbed the opportunity and created an organization that provides technological excellence in the domain of CAD / CAM / CAE & PLM, thereby bringing 2000+ customers under its ecosystem.“The challenge for manufacturing companies, is to use technology in a way, that can reduce design cycle time to help design a product in the lesser time and also improve an overall product development life cycle. This can undeniably give them their true Return on Investment,” explains Vikas Kanvelkar, Managing Director, DesignTech.

The company that had a humble beginning has today built a formidable presence in the industry and has won prestigious clients and awards alike. DesignTech was awarded ‘The Best IT Engineering Company’ award in 2010 by the Govt. of Maharashtra along with ‘One of the Top 50 Emerging Companies’ by NASCOM. As a testament to its quality services, the company has received an ISO-9001 certification along with a good performance rating by CRISIL for the past three years.

Leveraging Technology
As competition increases in terms of increased choices for consumers, the average product life cycle has become very diminutive. Although the cost of infrastructure and R&D is rising, the volume of the products being sold has gone down. As a result, companies have to make profit within a limited range without charging more money. Keeping in mind these challenges, DesignTech provides a portfolio of services that covers every stage of the product life cycle from concept to designing until training/support, and all the stages in-between.
With separate design services for product design and product engineering, the company offers CAD / CAE services to SMEs and established companies. DesignTech’s roster of services ranges from Concept Designing to Concept Validation, Detailed Designing to Mathematical Calculation, Analysis / Simulations to Tooling, Prototyping to Manufacturing and Shop Floor / Scheduling to Support.

The company also realized that the industry had a dearth of well trained professionals; hence DesignTech also provides training facilities through its CAD Academy which focuses on creating proficient and skilled people in their respective field. “Our major objective is to strengthen the eco-system,” adds Vikas.
Given DesignTech’s well-carved solutions and technical prowess, it has earned an esteemed clientele that includes names such as Mahindra & Mahindra, L&T, BARC, ECIL, BHEL, DRDO, Krishna Maruti and also clients across North America, Europe and South East Asia. The forward looking company has charted greater plans for its future. In terms of domestic market, the company will continue to focus on product distribution in India. However, the team is geared to expand its engineering design services to global market and to expand the CAD Academy pan India. The company has set its goal as becoming the company of choice in terms of product design.
