Centum India: Orchestrating defined PLM Roadmap to ensure faster ROI

By

The strategy, roadmap and Customer that go into developing a new product and maintaining it till it gets marketed are akin to surviving in some grisly situation. Each year, manufacturing industries such as Automotive, Aerospace and Electronics industries spend millions of rupees to innovate and introduce new products into the market at faster pace without losing market share. However, with rising product complexities and frequent enhancements are putting companies on the skids. CEOs and CIOs grapple to meet the pressure of high cost, lead-time and launch of the same. Breaking the crunch in the realm of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Centum India helps companies to define PLM Roadmap based on organization’s current capabilities and concurrently aids them in achieving business goals and early ROI. Srinivas Gangundi, Director says, “Even though the organizations have decided to implement PLM solutions, they might not have defined all the business processes and integrations required with other existing enterprise systems. Defining them early in the project stage will help to develop a detailed project execution plan with milestones at different intervals”. Addressing this predicament, Centum focuses on factors like business objectives including ROI, Process Reengineering, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) (Present and Target), Product Turnaround time, Reusability of existing designs etc to ensure successful delivery of projects. Besides helping customers to achieve project goals, Centum with its unique set of tools and utilities for various tasks, aids customers in automating the processes and validating the data and expediting the implementation/or upgrade of PLM systems. “These utilities can be further customized based on the industry domain and processes followed within the organization”, adds Srinivas.

Dedicated to bring about a transformation in the PLM landscape, the company has optimized solutions for Teamcenter from Siemens, SAP PLM, and Agile PLM from Oracle. For instance, Centum has executed Teamcenter Upgrade project for one of its manufacturing industry Customers. The upgrade was complex as the existing landscape was in Teamcenter Engineering, which was 9 years old and had lots of custom utilities. The upgrade was done by leveraging Teamcenter's new architecture, new functionalities and obsolete existing custom utilities. Centum executed another project US based Customer on Agile PLM and SAP integration. The business objectives of the integration were to provide smooth data transfer between the systems with data validation and alert mechanisms based on the business processes. The integration was done using the tools such an Agile Content Service (ACS) and SAP middleware components.

In addition, the company harbors a seasoned team of Consultants certified in PMP, SAP, JAVA, PLM and CAD. Centum’s core competencies include Enterprise Applications such as SAP and PLM, in the areas of Implementation and Support, PLM Strategy and Roadmap, Engineering Design, Automation & Support for Automotive, Aerospace, and Electronics industries.

“The Managers and Employees are becoming more mobile and they need access to Enterprise Applications data such as PLM & ERP all the time. This will enable Organizations to run their business smoothly with minimal or no interruption”, quotes Srinivas. To address these challenges, Centum is presently focused on developing a product in Teamcenter that can enable more Enterprise features on mobile platforms such as Android, iOS and Windows platforms. Additionally, the product is envisaged to reduce ‘lead time’ and initiate faster ROI by curtailing the product development cycles. Centum has been a strategic member of ‘SAP Startup Focus’ program and currently seen in addressing “Vehicle Recall” problem in the automotive sector. Moving ahead, the company intends to expand its footprint in USA and Middle East.
