AGS Transact Technologies: Bringing Proven Solutions to Help Retailers

By

The retail ecosystem has come a long way from merely selling a product to selling experience to customers. 'Kirana stores' are becoming a thing of the past. Instead, organized retailers are grabbing a major share of market. Some of them even have over 1000 stores across the globe. The larger scale makes it difficult for them to provide their customers with the royal experience by using the solutions offered by local software providers because they are custom built for small kirana stores. But AGS Transact Technologies (AGS), the provider of a spectrum of services revolving around hardware and software for retail, banking, petroleum and color segment, has over 20 years of experience in serving the global market and brings that exceptional flair to help the retailers' daily operations from paralyzing.

Founded in 2002, AGS represents Wincor Nixdorf which is a German company with their major focus on banking and retail. AGS represents their entire range of retail solutions in India providing hardware and software. Their globally proven solutions have enabled them to bring retail giants like Future Group, Aditya Birla Retail, Dell, DLF Retail and several others to their portfolio. In the space of organized retailing, AGS owns around 75 percent of the market share in large retail formats of the country.

With their flagship product, PoS (Point of Sale) hardware and software, AGS is revolutionizing the retail sector with its all-in-one design and graphical user interface. Infact, they are among the first to deploy open source solutions in India. The company has already created a PAN India infrastructure and currently their strategy is to position their software solutions to the existing customers. Apart from this, AGS has built enterprise solutions on a tablet such as Queue Busting solution. This effort is to ensure that the company offers a complete bundle of solutions to the retailers. Whether it is hardware, software, Queue Busting or back office solution, the company provides a complete end-to-end solution to Tier I retailers and manages them.

"With the help of AGS’ solutions, every transaction can be centrally controlled; infact there is no local console in the store. All the configurations are done from the head office and one cannot make a single change in the software," says Surya Prakash Singh, Head - Retail Business, AGS Transact Technologies. The software is designed on various security level parameters which enhances the security of the monetary figures of the retailers.

AGS understands that the unorganized retail in India is quite vast and is dominated by the kirana stores. Thus, they plan to come up with a product, a complete hardware and software solution, which can be positioned to help small kirana shops. This product has the smallest footprint, and is highly scalable, energy efficient and cost effective. They have brought a scaled down version of their current software and are going to partner with small channel partners who are into solution selling. With this strategy, AGS has plans to grow in Tier II and III cities.
