Learnosphere: An LMS that is“Refreshingly Simple, Remarkably Robust”

By

Learnosphere is a simple, easy-to-use LMS (Learning Management System) that takes minimal effort to learn and use, but is powerful enough to accommodate a variety of approaches and strategies. It allows organizations to host and offer various content types, and track each learners’ access of all these types. It has a series of comprehensive reports and dashboards which are built-in to provide insight into how the platform and the content are being used by learners. Some of the content types supported include SCORM and Tin Can API packages, videos, PDFs, PPTs, assignments, social interactions via discussion forums, etc.

Learnosphere allows assessments to be created and administered online, tracking both overall results and individual responses. It is mobile-ready, which means learners can access it from any device, on the go.

While it supports all relevant e-learning standards such as AICC and SCORM, Learnosphere is also compliant with the latest upcoming standard, Tin Can API. This means it can track learning that happens not only inside the LMS but also from outside it as well!

Learnosphere is built on Moodle, the most popular LMS in the world. The success of Moodle comes from its robust backend (which can handle an unlimited number of users accessing it at the same time) and its flexibility (wherein it allows course creators and administrators to produce and disseminate content in the way that fits with their strategy). However, Moodle has a long learning curve and it scores low on usability. Learnosphere marries the robustness of the backend and its flexibility with a completely revamped user experience thereby making it easy-to-use but powerful enough to accommodate a wide variety of approaches and strategies.

With regard to the LMS market in India, there are organizations which are yet to implement their first learning platform, as well as those that are looking for sophisticated systems. Learnosphere intends to target both of these types of organizations. For the first type, Learnosphere offers a simple and intuitive interface that caters to their need to host courses and track usage. It naturally extends to cater to the second type of organization, by supporting varied content formats and reporting features. It also is evolving on a constant basis, acquiring a series of collaboration features that will push its capabilities to the next level.

Learnosphere is a product of Learnnovators which is a multiple-award winning company that develops a wide range of e-learning solutions ranging from high-end interactive scenarios and simulations, gamified systems, byte-sized learning nuggets, and slick animations and videos, to simple job aids and quick reference sheets.
